Algunos son nocturnos y otros son criaturas de marea y se mover\u00e1n hacia arriba en las paredes del acuario por encima del nivel del agua, o incluso saldr\u00e1n del tanque. Pueden ser buenos animales de arrecife resistentes. Las conchas son redondeadas con un \u00e1pice bajo; la abertura es semicircular y el borde interior a menudo tiene varios &#8220;dientes&#8221; o pliegues distintos en el material de la cubierta calc\u00e1rea.
